I saw the Polish poster for Sunset Boulevard (with the picture by Waldemar Swierzy) and decided to experiment with the style.
I'm using that sentence a LOT lately.
This picture is part of a series and wordless story in my head.
The hair and coat were intentionally left flat (though am wondering if should add some depth to the hair or just use a different colour for the coat) In terms of layout, I'm sort of wondering if it needs something to anchor it in the bottom left corner, or if that's just me and my short attention span. Probably going to include this in the Stuff To Show Off, so any feedback would be seriously appreciated
I think the coat being entirely flat makes it seem a little odd. The hair being flat is fine, but I personally would add a single shadecolour to the coat.
I do like the overall flat-colors style, but I'd agree that at least a single layer of shading on the coat would make it stand out a little more. And perhaps sharper edges and more tapered shapes with her hair, too...
Its been awhile since i've seen art from you lass... lets see what you have here. The scarf and blue color in the bottom right corner is a little distracting, very harsh contrast to the dark moody colors you've set about for this character who may or may not be a goth... its difficult to tell with the way the face was drawn/colored. overall tis a good image.
Hullo Kot86 showed me your work.. and I absolutely love it ^^ Especially this. The colours and shades... and the style... I'd love to see this sorta style as an animation! So pretty!! Gargh! *dies* XD
Funny you should mention that, I'd love to work this style as an animation! But thank you very very much for your sweet comments, and I'm sorry I'm so hopeless at replying.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
